UGL Unicco Affirms its Green Leadership with New Comprehensive Sustainability Services Suite

Debuts www.greenservice.com Web site…

BOSTON, MA - January 8, 2010

UGL Unicco, a subsidiary of UGL Limited (ASX:UGL), today announced the UGL Unicco Sustainability Services suite, an enhancement and extension to its industry leading UGL Unicco GreenClean® custodial services initiative introduced in 2004.

UGL Unicco Sustainability Services is a comprehensive sustainability program that incorporates energy, water and waste management, as well as green cleaning, landscaping and support for U.S. Green Building Council Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification projects. The expanded sustainability initiative is supported by a new Web site, www.greenservice.com.

UGL Unicco pioneered green practices for business, industry, education and government buildings. It is an advocate for green cleaning, operations and maintenance (O&M) procedures working with the USGBC, Green Seal and other organizations.

“Six years ago we decided to make sustainability central to our service offerings,” said George Lohnes, UGL Unicco Vice President Marketing. “We started with cleaning and expanded to maintenance, energy, landscaping and other areas. Today, we have the most comprehensive suite of services in the industry. Facilities managers can turn to us with the confidence that they are working with the sustainability leader that has the tools and the expertise to help them accomplish their environmental and financial goals.”

UGL Unicco Sustainability Services suite addresses six service areas:

LEED Certification

UGL Unicco has been a trailblazer from the beginning. It was a key participant in the first successful LEED-EB building certification in the world and has since implemented LEED programs at scores of customers’ facilities across the U.S. and Canada. Its management has served with USGBC and other industry organizations that are defining sustainability standards.

UGL Unicco’s LEED Accredited Professionals (LEED-AP) guide companies through the accreditation process. UGL Unicco’s Sustainability Services include process design, as well as the day-to-day custodial and O&M services necessary to achieve and maintain LEED status. Even customers that do not pursue LEED certification benefit from UGL Unicco’s expertise and sustainability practices.

Energy Management

Energy management delivers cost savings and environmental benefits. UGL Unicco’s Sustainability Services suite helps commercial and industrial customers, schools and universities, and public venues benefit from enhanced HVAC, lighting, building and industrial equipment performance. UGL Unicco engineers and energy specialists analyze energy sources and cost models, as well as system performance. They research available improvements and recommend appropriate designs and equipment to optimize system efficiency.

Water Management

Strategic water consumption delivers both financial and ecological benefits. UGL Unicco implements the latest water conservation techniques using water-efficient fixtures, building systems, irrigation equipment and metering technology. When combined with UGL Unicco’s O&M services, the result is more sustainable water usage that delivers continuous improvements.

Waste Management

UGL Unicco works with customers to manage waste in order to control disposal costs and support sustainability. By diverting waste from landfills to alternative uses and recycling, UGL Unicco helps customers meet and exceed regulatory requirements. Innovative communications initiatives engage building occupants to supplement operational improvements in order to help customers introduce and maintain comprehensive waste management programs.

Landscaping

UGL Unicco’s approach to sustainable landscaping reduces resource input, lowers ongoing costs, enhances beauty, improves the environment, increases biodiversity and promotes social responsibility. The company’s design, installation and maintenance practices help customers meet LEED and Sustainable Sites Initiative (SSI) standards and certifications.

Green Cleaning

The UGL Unicco GreenClean program is the benchmark for green cleaning across North America. The program goes beyond simply replacing traditional chemicals with green cleaners since UGL Unicco literally “wrote the book” on green cleaning; it developed new sustainable Standard Operating Procedures supported by extensive employee training programs.
